Saenchai: The Best Fighter of a Generation

Saenchai PK SaenchaiMuayThaiGym is a fighter like no other…

He has fought and won against the best Thais in Thailand for years… and he has done it by fighting above his optimal weight and giving up several pounds just to get a fair match-up. He is that good.

There really hasn’t been any comparable fighters in the last twenty years in terms of skill level, and he is still going strong at 36 years of age.

The man that Saenchai gets compared to the most is a fighter that went before him – Samart Payakaroon. Samart was an incredibly smart technician who also had an amazingly evasive style which saw him take very little damage throughout his career. Saenchai and Samart are usually the two fighters names on peoples lips when they talk about the best Muay Thai fighter ever.

Although Samart didn’t pull of the kinds of tricks that Saenchai does on a regular basis, some would argue that Samart was facing tougher opponents in the eighties and early nineties. I think this is true, to an extent, but the size of Saenchai’s opponents are also a huge factor.

In terms of modern-day fighters, he is quite simply the best.
